More information about Zineryt
Zineryt is a topical treatment for the skin condition acne vulgaris. Acne vulgaris can affect people of all ages, however, it is more common for those experiencing a hormonal spike, such as adolescents and premenstrual women.
Zineryt contains two active ingredients. The first, an antibiotic, helps your body to clear infections. In turn, it reduces the symptoms of acne, which include redness and various lesions (whiteheads, blackheads, pimples and cysts). The second, a mineral, is a supplement for skin recovery.
Acne vulgaris has a distinct presentation, yet it may still be confused with other skin conditions. If you are unsure about the cause of your symptoms, you should visit your GP.
Please note: Zineryt should be mixed before applying. You will receive two bottles - one with powder and the other liquid - that should be combined and shaken. An applicator should then be fixed to the bottle containing the mixed solution. If you have any questions about this process, consult your doctor.
Acne, though a common condition, varies greatly from person to person. Some individuals may experience occasional spots and slight redness, whereas others may develop lesions widespread across the face, back and chest.
The condition results from the inflammation of pilosebaceous units, which contains the hair follicle, hair shaft, sebaceous gland (that produces sebum*) and the tiny muscle that controls hair movement, the arrector pili. You have these units across your entire body, but they are more concentrated on your face, chest and back - the places where you are likely to develop acne.
When a hair follicle becomes clogged, by dirt, sebum or dead skin cells, it causes inflammation. Inflammation is exacerbated if bacteria also enters any part of the pilosebaceous unit. The usual suspect for bacterial infection of the follicles is Propionibacterium acnes.
As a topical antibiotic, Zineryt works by fighting bacteria. The active ingredient, erythromycin, penetrates bacterial cells and interferes with protein synthesis. As a result, the bacteria cannot reproduce and your body can better recover.
Alongside erythromycin, Zineryt contains zinc acetate dihydrate. Zinc is a necessary mineral for many bodily functions, including cell division and stability. It helps your skin cells to recover from injury, whether sunburn or abrasion. Additionally, zinc has an anti-inflammatory quality, which calms your immune response when fighting infection, so you will not experience the same level of irritation and swelling.
*Sebum is the oily substance produced to moisturize and protect the skin.
Hormonal influxes increase sebum production. Acne vulgaris is common for adolescents to develop, as their bodies have an excess of oestrogen, progesterone and testosterone; the latter stimulates the sebaceous glands. For the same reason, women may also experience increased sebum production prior to menstruation - this is known as premenstrual acne.
If you are unsure how to use a medication, it is best to speak to your doctor, especially if you require a demonstration.
Currently, there are two volumes available to purchase - 30ml and 90ml - which should last one and three months respectively.
Zineryt comes in a topical applicator, which looks something like a “roll-on” deodorant or antiperspirant container - it is used in the same way.
Instructions:
A course will typically last 10 to 12 weeks. If you find you still have acne after this period, you should inform your doctor. You may need a more potent treatment.
Note - if you plan to use any cosmetics, wait until Zineryt has dried on your skin before applying.
If you miss a dose, apply again as soon as you remember. However, you should wait at least three hours between applications. Do not think applying extra will increase the treatment effects - applying too much will only lead to side effects.
If you apply too much or ingest the solution, contact your doctor.
All prescription medications pose a risk of side effects. However, if taken correctly and according to the advice of the prescribing doctor, the chance of any occurring is minimised.
As Zineryt is a topical treatment, most adverse reactions involve the skin. The most common are:
It is also possible that Zineryt will cause an allergic reaction. You should seek medical attention if you experience any swelling of the face and throat or difficulty breathing.
If you suffer any distressing side effects, you should discontinue treatment.
For a complete list of side effects, including uncommon and rarer reactions, you can consult the patient information leaflet (PIL). A PIL is included with every treatment.
If you experience any unlisted side effects, you can report them to the Medicines and HealthProductsducts Regulatory Agency (MHRA), via the Yellow Card Scheme. More details can be found by visiting www.mhra.gov.uk/yellowcard.
Certain medications interact dangerously with Zineryt. Past and current health conditions can also affect the efficacy and safety of the medication. You should ensure you answer all consultation questions honestly and in detail.
If either of the following apply to you, ask your doctor about alternative treatments. You have:
You should inform your doctor if you are already taking any antibiotics for any other condition, especially the macrolides lincomycin and clindamycin. These are the active ingredients in many other acne treatments, such as Treclin Gel, Duac Gel, Cleocin and Lincocin.
If you get any solution in your eyes, nose or mouth, rinse with water.
Zineryt is well-tolerated by pregnant and breastfeeding women. However, if you are breastfeeding, do not apply the product to your chest or breasts for risk of your infant ingesting the solution.
Yes, our service allows you to order medication online from the comfort of your home. If our doctors approve your order, a prescription is issued to our in-house pharmacy who will then dispense your selected treatment.
Our doctors can prescribe Zineryt without you needing a prior prescription. However, it is recommended that you are first diagnosed with acne vulgaris by a doctor or appropriate healthcare professional.
Before our doctors prescribe, you will need to complete an online consultation. The consultation allows them to be certain of the treatment’s suitability, maximising effectiveness and minimising the chance of side effects.
Purchasing prescription medication online can be daunting. You should only order if you can verify an organisation’s legality.
